I’m married, have two incredible kids, and I have the privilege of being the pastor here since July of 2009. I enjoy playing with my family (games, Friday family movie nights, sports), weight lifting, hiking, mountain biking, reading, watching sports (especially college football), and I’m getting more involved in canoeing and kayaking since living here in Spokane.

Being the secretary at Covenant is a ministry for me. Serving here brings me great joy. We chose to worship at Covenant because of the caring people and because it feels like home. My husband and I stay busy keeping up with our two active kids. I love to read and play in the outdoors.

I grew up in Spokane and attended Mead High School. I’m also a recent graduate of Whitworth University. I love working with our youth and watching them learn and grow. I have been at Covenant since 2009 and feel very at home here.

Worship Arts / Children’s Ministry Coordinator: Sarah Marken

A passionate follower of Christ, I find joy in the energy of children, travel and connection with friends around the world. I’m a graduate of Whitworth University with degrees in Theatre and Theology. I recently volunteered with The African Children’s Choir for 20 months. I’m currently serving Covenant while working as a graduate assistant with Whitworth Track & Field and studying international business.

Pianist: Mac Merchant

I am a piano performance major in my senior year at Whitworth University here in Spokane.  It’s an honor for me to be the accompanist at Covenant and to be part of its family.  I love to be involved playing the piano and singing at school, church, and anywhere else music is made.

I am the Preschool Director/Teacher at Wandermere Christian Preschool. I have taught in Washington State since 1992, and at the preschool/elementary level since 2000. I started the Preschool Program at Covenant to fill a growing need in the Wandermere area. I am a caring, dedicated teacher who loves children and my job. I attended Mead High School and I will soon be graduating from Eastern Washington University with a BA in Psychology with plans to pursue a BS in Nursing. I love working with children and seeing their growth in Christ and the positive impact He has on their lives. I’ve attended Covenant all my life and since September, 2009, I’ve had the joy and honor of serving as the Nursery Supervisor. I love every minute of it.

Custodian: Stan Gray

I grew up in an Air Force family and traveled extensively until I moved to Spokane in 1974 (the year of the World’s Fair). I was the Spokane Processing Officer for four years before leaving the Air Force to remain in this awesome place. I have attended Covenant for over 26 years. My wife, Sheila, and I were the first couple to be married at Covenant. I love my Covenant family.

Assistant Custodian: Kyle Smith

I was raised near Chicago, Illinois, and I’m a single mom with two boys attending college. I am currently working as a nurse and have been serving part-time at Covenant since 2000.
