This is an eleven-week unit on “Biblical Hospitality and Immigration” that starts on Sunday, October 12, and ends on Sunday, December 14. Adult Ed begins fifteen minutes after the close of service (typically about 10:45) and lasts for an hour. It is a long unit so feel free to join in whenever you can.
One important value of being in a United Methodist community is that we learn to hold space for each other with all of our various strengths and differences. To that end, we will be using a new-to-us but time-tested model of presentation and interaction during class times. This model will be introduced during the first class on October 12. In addition, we are shooting for two guest speakers, an in-class reflection and communal sharing, plus an extra-curricular field trip involving yummy food! What’s not to like? 😀
And [Jesus] said to [the Pharisee, a lawyer], “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” – Matthew 22:37-40 ESV
Looking forward to making this journey with you! Alisa Johnson
